This paper is divided into two parts. Part 1 (40 marks), this part consists of compulsory short answer questions, Part (30 marks). Students are supposed to answer 3 programs. Each program carries 10 marks) Section 1(40 marks) Q A. (14x2=28) 1. Simplify the following expressions by using laws of Boolean algebra. C(C’+A).B(C+B) 2. Write the dual of the following expression. A B+A’+1=1 3. What is an object? How is it related to class? 4. Name a character function used to check if the character is an alphabet or digit. 5. State the Involution law and prove it with the help of a truth table. 6. Draw a truth table for the following Expression. AB’C+(B+C)+A.B.C 7. Using truth table verify whether the expression is true or false (PQ)=(Q’P’) 8. Write the truth table and draw the circuit for XNOR gate. 9. Explain XOR gate with a truth table and circuit. 10. If A: Today is holiday B: I will not go to school. Translate this expression in meaningful sentences. (~A).(~B) 11. Explain contradiction with an example. 12. What is a compound proposition? 13. Draw the circuit for the following. (A+B)’. (A’+B) 14. Draw the circuit of OR gate with NAND gate. Q B. Draw the circuit and truth table of Full adder [4] Q C. Solve the following. [8*1=8] a) (1B2C)1 6+(AB45)1 6=__________ b) (101010)2 =(_______)10 c) (1401)1 0= (_____)2 d) (7757)10=(______)8 e) (100101)2- (10010)2 =________ f) (721.262)8 =(__________)16 g) (AD)1 6=(_______)8 h) (4567)8-(1234)8= ____________ Part II (30 marks) Write any three programs(Each program carries 10 marks) Q D. A class Merger concatenates two positive integers that are greater than 0 and produces a new merged integer. Example :- If the first number is 23 and the second is 64, then the concatenated number will be 23764. Some of the members of the class are given below: C lass name : Merger Data members: n 1 : long integer to store first number. n2 : long integer to store second number. mergNum : long integer to store the merged number. Member functions Merger( ) : constructor to initialize data members. void readNum( ) : to accept the values of the data members n1 and n2. void JoinNum( ) : to concatenate the numbers n1 and n2 and store it in mergNum. void show( ) : to display the original numbers and the merged numbers with appropriate messages. Specify the class Merger, giving details of the constructor, void readNum( ), void JoinNum() and void show( ). Define the main function to create an object and call the functions accordingly to enable the task. Q E. Design a class change to convert a decimal number to its equivalent in base 2 and to convert it back to its decimal form. Eg. (i) The decimal number 35 is 100011 in base 2. (ii) The decimal number 12 is 110 in base2. Some of the members of the class are given below: Class name : change Data members a[] : integer type array. n : integer to be converted to base 2(binary). M ember functions change() : constructor to assign 0 to instance variables. void input() : accepts integer to be converted to base 2. void Bindeci(int) : to convert decimal integer to binary form. void Decibin() : to convert binary number back to decimal form. Specify the class change giving the details of the constructor and the functions void input(), void Bindeci (int) and void Decibin (). The main function need not be written. Q F. Write a program to declare a square matrix A[ ] [ ] of order (R x R) where ‘R’ is the number of rows and the number of columns such that R must be greater than 2 and less than 10. Allow the user to input integers into this matrix. Display appropriate error messages for an invalid input. Perform the following tasks: (a)Display the input matrix. (b)Find the sum of all the elements in each rows (c) Find the minimum number in the array Q G. W rite a menu driven program to perform the following: (Use switch-case statement) (a) To input a word from the user and print it in the following pattern: J JA JAV JAVA (b) To find the sum of the series given below: S = 1 + X/1! + X2 / 2!+X3 /3! + up to n terms (Where X and n are to be inputted from the user) Note: ! denotes the factorial of a number which is equal to the product of the numbers starting from 1 till that number. Example: 5! = 1 x 2 x 3 x 4 x 5] Q H. In Piglatin a word such as KING is replaced by INGKAY, while TROUBLE becomes UBLETRAY and so on. The first vowel of the original word becomes the start of the translation, any preceding letters being shifted towards the end and followed by AY. Words that begin with a vowel or which do not contain any vowel are left unchanged. Design a class Piglatin using the description of the data members and member functions given below: Class name : PigLatin Data members txt : to store a word, len : to store the length Member functions PigLatin() : constructor to initialize data members void readstring() : to accept the word input in uppercase void convert() : converts the word into its piglatin form and displays the word.( changed or unchanged) void consonant() : counts and displays the number of consonants present in the given word. Specify the class Piglatin giving details of the constructor, void readstring(), void convert() and void consonant(). Also define a main function to create an object and call methods accordingly to enable the task.
